Twater is built on the belief that everyone deserves a space to speak, connect, and be heard — regardless of who they are, where they come from, or what they believe. These guidelines exist to protect that space. They are not about silencing opinions; they are about making sure every person on this platform can participate without fear of harm, harassment, or dehumanization.
By using Twater you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or a permanent ban depending on the severity and frequency of the behavior.
1. Be Respectful
We welcome everyone — from every walk of life, every background, every belief system, every identity. Disagreement is natural and healthy. Disrespect is not. Treat every person on this platform the way you would want to be treated: with basic dignity and courtesy.
Rudeness, condescension, and deliberate cruelty have no place here. If you disagree with someone, challenge their ideas — not their personhood.
2. Respect Gender Identity and Pronouns
We understand that people are still learning. An honest mistake made in good faith is different from deliberate, repeated misgendering used to belittle or harm. When someone corrects you, respect that and move on.
Making fun of someone's pronouns, using slurs related to gender identity, or producing content whose purpose is to demean trans, non-binary, or gender non-conforming people is a violation of these guidelines and may result in immediate removal of the content and suspension of your account.
Everyone has the right to be called by their own name and pronouns. Full stop.
3. No Hate Speech or Discrimination
Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination against any individual or group based on the following is strictly prohibited:
- Race, ethnicity, or national origin
- Religion or lack of religious belief
- Gender, gender identity, or gender expression
- Sexual orientation
- Disability or neurodivergence
- Age
- Immigration or citizenship status
- Socioeconomic status
This includes slurs, dehumanizing language, calls for violence, and content that portrays any group as subhuman or inherently inferior.
4. No Harassment or Bullying
Harassment is any behavior directed at a specific person that is intended to cause distress, fear, or harm. This includes but is not limited to:
- Sending threatening or intimidating messages
- Repeatedly targeting a person with unwanted contact after they have asked you to stop
- Coordinating with others to mass-report, dogpile, or brigade a specific account
- Sharing someone's private information without their consent (doxxing)
- Creating accounts specifically to target or impersonate another person
If someone has blocked you, do not attempt to contact them through other accounts or workarounds.
5. No Misinformation or Deceptive Content
Do not knowingly post false information that could cause real-world harm — including health misinformation, fabricated news, manipulated media, or content designed to deceive people into harmful actions.
Satire and clearly labeled opinion are welcome. Disguising fiction as fact is not.
6. No Violent or Graphic Content
Do not post content that glorifies, promotes, or depicts extreme violence, gore, or graphic harm to people or animals. Content that threatens or incites violence against any person or group — including public figures — is prohibited and may be reported to relevant authorities.
7. Protect Minors
Any sexual content involving minors is absolutely prohibited and will be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement immediately. There are no warnings, no second chances. This is an immediate and permanent ban.
Do not share personal information about minors without the consent of a parent or guardian.
8. No Spam or Platform Manipulation
Keep the platform genuine. The following behaviors undermine the community and are not allowed:
- Posting repetitive, unsolicited promotional content
- Creating multiple accounts to evade a suspension or ban
- Using automated tools or bots to artificially inflate engagement
- Impersonating another person, brand, or public figure without clear parody labeling
- Coordinating inauthentic behavior to make fringe views appear mainstream
9. Respect Privacy
Do not share another person's private information — including home address, phone number, workplace, financial details, or personal communications — without their explicit consent. Respect the boundary between public persona and private life.
If someone shares something with you privately, it stays private unless they give you permission to share it.
10. Respect Intellectual Property
Only post content that you have the right to share. Do not reproduce, repost, or distribute copyrighted text, images, music, or video without proper credit or permission from the rights holder.
11. Reporting and Enforcement
If you see something that violates these guidelines, use the Report button on any post or profile. Our moderation team reviews every report.
Depending on the severity and history of the violation, enforcement actions may include:
- Content removal — the post or media is taken down
- Warning — a notice that further violations may result in suspension
- Temporary suspension — account access is paused for a defined period
- Permanent ban — account is permanently removed from the platform
We aim to be consistent and fair. If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you can contact us to appeal.
A Note from Us
These guidelines are not about policing thought or suppressing debate. They exist because a platform where some people are made to feel unsafe, unwelcome, or less than human is not a platform anyone can truly speak freely on. Protecting people's dignity is protecting free expression.
We are a community. Every person here — regardless of their politics, their faith, their identity, their history — deserves to be treated as a full human being. That is the only rule that really matters, and all of the above flows from it.
Thank you for being part of Twater. We're glad you're here.
